Tourism Fuels Local Progress: Door County’s Visitor Economy Surges in 2024
June 10, 2025 – Door County, WI. Door County’s visitor economy continued its upward momentum in 2024, generating $651.2 million in total economic impact and reaffirming the industry’s vital role in supporting the region’s economy, workforce, and quality of life.
According to newly released data from global research firm Tourism Economics, Door County saw a $31.4 million increase in total economic activity over the previous year, a 5.1% increase, proof of the area’s enduring appeal and the efforts of local businesses and organizations dedicated to welcoming visitors year-round.
Direct spending reached $523.2 million in 2024, with an additional $128 million generated through indirect and induced impacts. These dollars flowed through nearly every corner of the county, strengthening small businesses, creating jobs, and supporting vital services and local families.
In 2024, the visitor economy supported 3,524 local jobs, contributing a record $124.3 million in labor income to Door County workers. Visitor-generated tax revenue also made a significant impact, delivering $53.3 million in state and local tax contributions, offsetting resident taxes by $3,706 per household.

Door County’s growth mirrored and, in several categories, outpaced statewide trends as Wisconsin’s visitor economy reached a record-breaking $25.8 billion in total economic impact in 2024. Door County surpassed the state average in key metrics including total economic impact, direct spending, job growth, and tax revenue generation.
Building on the momentum from 2024, Door County enters the 2025 season poised for continued progress—with expectations of steady economic stability, ongoing community support, and tangible benefits for residents and local stakeholders.
