New Festival To Highlight Door County Theater Companies
Door County - February 24, 2023 – A new statewide theater festival called World Premiere Wisconsin is getting support from three local theaters as well as Destination Door County. The inaugural festival, which runs March 1-June 30, 2023, will celebrate new plays and musicals being produced throughout Wisconsin.
Nearly 50 theaters across the state are set to participate in the festival. Door County theaters participating in the festival include Northern Sky Theater, Peninsula Players, and Third Avenue Playworks.
Northern Sky Theater, one of the lead producers of the festival, will present “The Fish Whisperer,” book by Scott Guy and Robin Share, music by Dan Wessels and Ron Barnette, from June 14- August 25, 2023. Northern Sky Theater will also host the inaugural festival’s closing celebration on Saturday June 17.
Peninsula Players will present, “A Rock Sails By” by Sean Grennan, from June 13-July 2, 2023.
Third Avenue Playworks will present “I Carry Your Heart With Me” by Jennifer Blackmer, from May 10-28, 2023.
Destination Door County signed on as a festival sponsor to show support for Door County’s theater community and to highlight the county’s unique theater offerings while supporting the arts.
