Destination Door County Partnering with Leave No Trace for Upcoming Education Sessions
September 20, 2024. Destination Door County is excited to be partnering with Leave No Trace to offer three local training opportunities this fall on the Leave No Trace principles.
Leave No Trace is a nationally recognized organization that focuses on educating people, instead of restoration programs or access restrictions, as the most effective and least resource-intensive solution to land protection.
The three scheduled sessions will take place in the coming months on the following dates. Participation in any of the sessions is free but pre-registration ahead of time is strongly encouraged at DoorCounty.com/RSVP.
September 28, 2024 – 11:30 AM-2 PM – geared towards the general public. Learn what it means to be a responsible visitor and help keep Door County the beautiful place that it is. Take the pledge! Enjoy a light lunch and then go on a docent-led tour through Heritage Village. Location: Heritage Village, 2041 Michigan St, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.
October 26, 2024 – 12-2 PM – geared towards local land managers. The 7 Principles of Leave No Trace provide an easily understood framework of minimum impact practices for anyone visiting the outdoors. Each Principle covers a specific topic and provides detailed information to empower land managers to help minimize impacts at their respective properties. Location: Peninsula State Park White Cedar Nature Center.
November 7, 2024 – 8:30-10 AM – geared towards local businesses. The 7 Principles of Leave No Trace can be applied anywhere — from remote wilderness areas to local parks and even to local businesses. Each Principle covers a specific topic and provides detailed information to empower businesses to minimize their impact. Location: Virtual Meeting via ZOOM, https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85695075615.
A light lunch will be provided at the two in-person events. Participation in any of the sessions is free but pre-registration ahead of time is strongly encouraged at DoorCounty.com/RSVP.
