Destination Door County Narrows CEO Candidates As Search Process Progresses

The search for the new president and CEO of Destination Door County (DDC) is progressing and was recently narrowed down to seven candidates.

The search process began May 10, when longtime president and CEO Jack Moneypenny announced his resignation. A DDC task force then began an in-depth self-evaluation of the organization that included interviews with dozens of local stakeholders from all sectors of the tourism industry. Searchwide Global – an executive recruitment firm for the travel, tourism and hospitality industries – was hired to lead the CEO search and work through the process with a nine-person local search committee made up of DDC board members and community leaders.

DDC’s nationwide search garnered 70 candidates for the position. In early August, the search committee reviewed the candidates and narrowed the list to its top seven choices. Those candidates will be invited for a round of Zoom interviews with the search committee later this month, followed by in-person interviews for the selected finalists in early September.

“This has been an extremely intense and detailed process because we know how important it is to our community that we get this right,” said Todd Trimberger, DDC board chair. “We’re not just looking for someone who can step into the role and continue our current successful marketing efforts, but for someone who can also bring us together and lead us into the future as a dynamic and reimagined destination marketing and management organization,” he said.

The DDC search committee, in conjunction with the DDC board of directors, aim to have a new president and CEO selected by mid-September.
