Destination Door County Honored With Patriot Award
Department of Defense Recognition for Extraordinary Support of Employees Who Serve in the Wisconsin National Guard and Reserve
Nov. 8, 2024, Door County, WI – Jim Malcolm, Chairman of the Wisconsin Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee (ESGR), has announced Julie Gilbert, President/CEO of Destination Door County, will be presented with a Patriot Award by ESGR representative Jim O’Neil in recognition of extraordinary support of one of their employees serving in the Wisconsin Air / Army National Guard.
The presentation will take place at Destination Door County’s upcoming board of directors meeting at 3:30 PM on Tuesday November 12. The meeting and award presentation will be held at Birch Creek Music Performance Center’s Juniper Hall, 3821 County Road E near Egg Harbor.
According to Jim Malcolm, ESGR State Chair, “Julie Gilbert was nominated for this prestigious national award by her employee, Amanda Stuck, who is a member of the National Guard / Reserve Force. The Patriot Award is only presented to employers who not only hire Guard and Reserve members but demonstrate superior support to the military employee and his/her family. The National Guard and Reserve Forces are the cornerstone of our national defense. Julie Gilbert has provided outstanding support and cooperation and has exhibited a patriotic spirit which is reflected in the significance of being a recipient of the Patriot Award.”
Julie Gilbert, President/CEO of Destination Door County, said it’s an honor to receive the recognition. “I am humbled to be nominated for this award and deeply appreciate the service and dedication of our National Guard and Reserve Force members, including our own team member Amanda Stuck, who work tirelessly to serve our country,” stated Gilbert.
Destination Door County will be recording the ceremony and will provide both video and audio files of the ceremony for media use by early evening on November 12. The media is also welcome to attend the short award ceremony, which will take place just prior to the start of the organization’s monthly board meeting.
